t1.WOMAN ARTIST OF THE MONTH: THE MAGICAL UNIVERSE OF HEATHER CORINA.14 Meet Heather Corina, one of the world's greatest photographers. She creates a cosmos of one million dimensions and parallel rainbows for those who in their daring thoughts and intimate theology, search for the beauty of our world, bodies, sensuality and the tabooed esthetics. A genius, a visionary and simply a woman who dares to be an Eve. Corina or the femme fatale of world photography.

t2.LIFESTYLE, POWER AND FORTUNE.30 1.The world's richest women: The Billionaires.

Marilyn Carlson. She runs one of the biggest privately held companies in America, Carlson Companies, which she took over as chairman and chief executive when her father, founder Curt Carlson died in 1999. Marilyn, 61, and her sister Barbara Carlson Gage each own half of the $31 billion (2000 sales) company. As a marketing, travel and hospitality company, Carlson has been hit by the economic downturn and Sept. 11 terror attacks...

ij-Nicki_Visser0007.jpgij-rossi87.jpg2. Hottest faces and bodies. 36.The new list of women who made it big time this year. The new list of the most attractive and hottest faces includes a puzzling variety of stars, celebrities, media personalities, as well as female authors with impressive academic credentials, ranging from super model  Nikki Visser to Dr. Monica Crowley, the most brilliant and prettiest face of the American media.   Beauty and brains are blending in unison. Although, they have different personalities and colorful tempers, almost all of them make millions in so many different ways and means.

t3.LA CRÈME DE LA CRÈME  1. Renate Aller: 39. She photographs femme fatales, elegant women, the clouds, inexistent people who make you think, and the infinity of nothingness. You see it in her shots of lyrical and nostalgic skies, horizons, clouds, seascapes and ultra modern installations.

t4.WOMEN IN THE ARTS. 47 2.  Judy Hintz Cox: America’s first lady of progressive minimalism. Cox’s paintings are elegantly and intelligently composed, structured and balanced, yet, she is not restrained by an artistic dogmatic analysis.

t5.WOMEN IN MUSIC. 49

1.   It seems everybody wants to be a jazz singer nowadays. People of all ages turn up at 'open mic' sessions to perform their party piece. But why this sudden eruption of would-be vocalists? Maybe because singing looks easier than playing an instrument, although it isn't. Or maybe it's because there are so many good jazz singers in Britain to inspire them. There's Stacey Kent, Tina May, Claire Martin, Clare Teal, Barb Jungr, Anita Wardell, Sheena Davis...

t6.WORLD HAUTE COUTURE. 61

FASHION

1. Despite the doe-eyed models, miles of muslin and yards of silk, the common man managed to catch and keep the spotlight at Brazil's biggest designer event, Sao Paulo Fashion Week. The watchwords at this year's event, were sales and jobs. An entire floor of the Sao Paulo Biennale Pavilion was transformed into a fashion salon, a polite word for a beehive of functional conference rooms where sales...

t7.NEW YORK THEATER: THE NEW BOHEMIA: A TRIUMPH! 69

The show revives the delights extravaganza of 1920s and 1930s Berlin, Munich, Paris and intellectual-erotic cabaret noir of the Mata Hari era. You can call it the art deco or art nouveau of the New York new theater direction...

t8.STARS, STYLE AND SIGNATURE. 65

1. "Today we know the price of everything and the value of nothing." Oscar Wilde said that and he hadn't even seen In Style magazine. In Style is the drop-dead worst magazine in print. It presents attractive objects in dizzying abundance -- fine, that's its job -- but the way it associates beautiful design with cheap unearned celebrity is wrong and dangerous. Even I feel fretful after I read it, and I've never run up a credit-card debt in my life. How many women go bankrupt after reading In Style?

t9.WOMEN GENIUSES OF DANCE AND BALLET. 70

The Magical and Surreal World of Theatrical Dance and Ballet...The religions of ancient Greece and Rome are extinct now, but the gods and goddesses of Olympus are still vibrant in our dreams and fragile hopes. The sublime deities came to life through poetry, music and dance. They belonged to  literature, fantasy, art and dance. In the firmament of human imagination, they defined their divine circle, and  continued to hold it within the winds...

t10.AMERICAN MEDIA. 85 THE 25 MOST LIKED &TRUSTED   CABLE TV FEMALE PERSONALITIES IN THE US. They are the most trusted, respected and liked personalities of the American tube. What is their secret?.............................

t11.UNDISCOVERED GREAT TALENTS: DIVAS IN THE MAKING. 89

It is not an easy task to write about Sophia Dalle, nor to engage into a dialogue with this macabre and translucent Diva in the making. She lives in a world we are familiar with, and in a cosmos where only most daring thoughts, phantasmagoric visions and idealism blend and fade in. She is idealistic, a spiritual chic and abundant with multidimensional musical talent. She interrupts you all the time, she rushes to freeze and free words of wisdom, you wish you could totally understand, and she challenges your intellect, even though, she disdains ivy league cum laude graduates who analyze everything in life.

t17.FILM. 130 Woman's erotic presence as a pivotal necessity in art films and documentaries. A secret stash of naughty silent films turned up in a Paris attic, and producer Michel Reilhac knew he had to put them on the big screen. Our great-grandparents were rather less prudish than we might imagine. Decades before pornography became big business, naughty French people were making dirty films for the fun of it. In The Good Old Naughty Days, a collection of 12 silent films from the earliest years of the 20th century, nuns, priests, teachers - even a dog - play out sexual dramas in a wide variety of inventive positions, locations and logistical arrangements...

t18.WOMEN ARTISTS OF THE WORLD

t1 ALISON LAPPER. 138 My Body Is Art! It's been empty for 150 years. But this week it was announced that the vacant fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square will be occupied by a 15ft-high nude statue of a pregnant Alison Lapper. She talks to Hadley Freeman about art, disability and notions of beauty.

t 2MARIA CHEVSKA. 141 Can't Wait (Letters R.L.), Andrew Mummery Gallery, London, United Kingdom. Awaiting the visitor to her first solo show in London for almost three years are two significant developments in Maria Chevska's work. The first is the introduction of objects into the gallery space, objects that the viewer has to negotiate and which act as both an aid and a restriction  to reading her paintings...

t19.ETIQUETTE. 142 AMERICAN NOUVELLE SOCIAL ELITE VERSUS THE INTERNATIONAL ELITE. Brief Analogy, differences and similarities.

t20.WOMEN GENIUSES. 148 Mary Phelps JacobJacob, Inventor of the Bra Design. In 1913, the first modern brassiere to be awarded a patented was invented by a New York socialite named Mary Phelps Jacob. Mary had just purchased a sheer evening gown for one of her social events. At that time, the accepted undergarments were corsets, stiffened with whaleback bones and steel rods. Mary found that the "whalebone-spocked" out visibly around the plunging neckline and under the sheer fabric, so with two silk hankerchiefs and some pink ribbon, the first bra was invented.

t21.FAMILY & HEALTH. 155

t1.FAMILY, HEALTH, MARRIAGE, SEX AND AGING. 155 5-year mark key in marriages:  Getting married? Count to five. Couples who make it to their fifth year of marriage are less likely to break up, figures from Statistics Canada indicate. "Before the first anniversary of marriage, there was less than one divorce for every 1,000 marriages in 2002,'' the agency said Tuesday. After the first anniversary, the divorce rate was 4.3 per 1,000 marriages. That went up to 18 per 1,000 after the second anniversary, 25 after the third and peaked at 25.7 after the fourth. After that, the risk of divorce decreased slowly for each additional year of marriage.

t22.CABARET: STARS AND LEGENDS

t1.Lyne Tremblay is de facto, Canada's most sophisticated, elegant and captivating cabaret Diva and  "Femme Fatale". 157 Her voice is an explosion and implosion of warmth, vocal virtuosity, seduction, truthful inner feelings and a magical "Un Je Ne Sais Quoi?". You look at Lyne and the scent of a Parisian Diva of La Belle Epoque or "Les Annees Folles" breath over you. You look at Lyne Tremblay, and Montmartre, Les Grands Boulevards, the dialogues of Jean...

t2.Wesla Whitfield made her own rules and enlarged the perimeter of performance excellence by sculpting  an almost perfect sense of phrasing which magically and very tenderly reached the hearts and souls of multi-varied and demanding audiences. She brought to the traditional world of cabaret music, a very intimate, warm, pensive and personal musical and vocal interpretation which defied conventionalism. This delightful defying and charmingly innovative creativity is...

t23.ODDITIES AND CONTROVERSIES. 165

Francesca Chillemi t1.Too pretty and too sexy for Italian television. After decades of weather bulletins presented by military colonels in full uniform, Italian television got its first weather girls last September. But the outlook does not seem too bright for the first to hit the airwaves, a former Miss Italy. She has already run into trouble for being too sexy. Italian TV is infamous for its scantily-clad girls, who are a regular feature - dancing, presenting or just looking pretty - usually alongside a much older, less attractive male presenter. But Eleonora Pedron, 21, proved there is such a thing as too sexy for Italian TV when she was suspended for doing a rather raunchy magazine spread in Capital magazine, sporting only a G-string.

t2. HOWARD STERN VS. OPRAH. 167 The American tabloid magazine reported that on March 18, millions of Americans watched an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, during which an O, The Oprah Magazine writer described in jawdropping detail, the latest fads in teen sex. Viewers learned that a "tossed salad," had little to do with healthy eating, but instead referred to oral sex to the anus. The guest went on to describe "rainbow" parties -- gatherings at which a gaggle of lipstick- wearing girls provide oral sex to one or more males. For this, declares shock jock Howard Stern, 50, Oprah should come under the same scrutiny as he has over his notoriously raunchy broadcasts. Since 1990, the Federal Communications Commission has levied fines, totaling close to $2 million, against Howard's show...

t24. INTERNATIONAL MALE ARTIST OF THE MONTH. 168 Daniel Iliescu. The esthetic serenity invades the tumultuous and bursting emotions of this Romanian artist. Should the transparent elegance of his form invades his complex intellect, Iliescu would not hesitate to release his passion into infinite space and revolting visions, only known to his unrestrained inner cosmos. Iliescu's art is intense. Yet, a flair of finesse camouflages this wondering temerity...

EYE CANDY In her ''Cold Mountain'' role as Ada, Kidman somehow finds time to doll herself up -- and stare menacingly at the camera -- even as she pines away for her lover, Inman (Jude Law)WHAT'S HAPPENING OUT THERE? Alexandra Kerry loomed out of the Cannes night like a Magritte nude, leaving the paparazzi pondering; "Did she dress in the dark? Was her postmodern take on visible panty line and Mister Magoo chic a ghastly accident — like an errant trail of loo paper — or a cunning ploy to lure lenses?". Whatever, it worked. t32.THE MOST ELEGANT, THE BEST AND THE WORST DRESSED STARS IN AMERICA. 235

"You have one minute to impress, 30 seconds to catch the moment and just 3 seconds to make a lasting impression." Once, wrote Maximillien de Lafayette in his book  on world protocol and etiquette. And how you can you impress by catching the moment in less than 3 seconds without saying a word? Simple: Dress to kill. Dress for Success! Be Elegant and Refined. Elegance is the key.  Remember, nowadays stars don't create fashion anymore as did the femmes fatales of the golden era of Hollywood, thanks to Valentino...

tWHAT TO WEAR WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT: Even before you get a proper 'bump' you may find your waist thickens, making it hard to fit into your tightest clothes. You may be able to adapt your clothes for a while - leaving the top button undone on trousers might be enough, and you can hide the gap with a longer top. Lots of today's maternity clothes can be worn after pregnancy, too, and some styles of normal clothes are well suited to covering growing bumps.

BREAKING NEWS

Janet: Federal regulators  fined CBS a record $550,000 for  Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction," which exposed the singer's breast during this year's Super Bowl halftime show.

Billy: Billy Joel wrote the song, Say Goodbye to Hollywood. On Monday, he joked he'd never leave.

 Models: WORLD OF MODELING

Super models make more money than a president of a university, a professor of astrophysics and a NASA scientist. The world of fashion is temperamental. It changes with the weather. And this is why we have winter fashion, summer fashion, spring fashion, etc. You got my drill. And as a result, new models surface and catch the light. Others come and fade away.

JAZZ:

MUSIC GENIUSES: Once Sheryl Bailey told the media "Man. Woman. Black. White. Jazz. Rock. These words only define forms, not experience. Playing jazz is an incredible human event. Art is about communicating the divine through human activity. We all possess the divine and the ability to express it and share it. "And this caught my attention and allowed me to better understand the noble spirit of this American genius and delightful human being! I am glad, Sheryl Bailey was courteous enough to send me a copy of her most recent releases "BULL'S EYE", for I enjoyed it tremendously.  This superb jazz guitarist does not need additional praises and accolades. She has already made her mark on the the world of jazz as a teacher, a composer and guitarist. To many critics, musicologists, students and fans, including myself, Sheryl Bailey is acknowledged as one of America's greatest guitarists. Perhaps, the world's best female jazz guitar player.

The Best of People: SEEDS OF PEACE.

Ms. Wallach is currently executive vice president of Seeds of Peace, a conflict resolution program which brings together teenagers from the Middle East; India, Pakistan and Afghanistan; the Balkans; and Greece, Turkey and divided Cyprus. Laura SaviniLaura Savini: Diva of the American public television. Yes! Public television can make you a "beloved star". Do people watch public television? You bet, if PT stations networks have personalities like Laura Savini and Charlie Rose. We know who Charlie Rose is, but Laura who? Hold your horses. Laura Savini is a knockout, brilliant, sharp, extremely well respected and above all, she is stunning. But who in heavens is Laura Savini? We asked this question to 15 of our reporters and senior writers. Twelve of them knew who she was. We asked 300 of our readers if they knew anything about Savini, heard of her, and if they did, what did they think of her. Great! To our great astonishment and delight, 210 heard of Savini and 179 of them watch her regularly on her public television network. So, public television is well and kicking...Read the full article

We did not finish yet shoveling  the bags of CDs and CDs and CDs we got this week. But, curiosity killed the cat...Read full article

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR. Strange, frank and candid opinions and concerns of our readers. Some are fun too!

DIVAS: FEMMES FATALES. The femme fatale, defined simply, is an irresistibly attractive woman, especially one who leads men into danger. In hard-boiled fiction, she is usually the protagonist's romantic interest.

MOVIES

Movies: When it comes to Star Wars, maybe there's too much gravity in space. Fans invariably take Star Wars too seriously, but the people behind the sci-fi series recall the experience as a surreal comic opera. Training a monkey to play Yoda? Studio complaints that Chewbacca was pantsless? The only thing that worked on R2-D2 was the dwarf inside?

TELEVISION

Clubhouse: The new series Clubhouse -- about a teenager who's a bat boy for a major league team -- may use sports as a metaphor for life, but the producers know the action on the field still has to look authentic.

TV: In the battle of rich guys turned TV stars, Donald Trump has it all over Mark Cuban. Trump drew just under 16 million viewers to NBC last week for the second installment of The Apprentice 2, according to Nielsen Media Research.

WOMEN OF ARTS AND CULTURE IN PICTURES FROM AROUND THE WORLD

PICTURES: Lao Tzu was the first to say "One image is worth one thousand words." And so Did Marco Polo and Vasco de Gamma after having discovered unknown parts of the world. And to depict the unpleasant character of Popes, Michelangelo and Raphael froze their portraits in illustrations and pictures so future centuries and generation will remember those Papal characters. We see and understand our universe through photographs. Sure, we feel the cosmos and its parallel world with our hearts and imagination but, only photographs capture the moment, the message, the hidden, the revealed, the damned, the sacred, the holly and the forbidden

Photographer of the Week

t BARBARA SINGER

Barbara Singer is de facto one of  America's greatest portraits photographers. A magnificent humanistic photographer with inner visions and pragmatic esthetics. A poetess, a writer, a thinker, a visionary and a torch of human virtues. Perhaps, just perhaps, she is New York's best portraits artist-photographer.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH: KIKI SMITH

tKiki Smith at The University Art Museum, University of California at Santa Barbara

One of the most influential artists of her generation, Kiki Smith makes sculpture of and about the body in materials as diverse as bronze, paper, and wax. Ranging from fragments of the body to whole figures in the round, from the miniature to the monumental, from neutral or natural coloration to bright, unfamiliar hues, her sculptures are united by their sensual impact and their frank acceptance of corporeal reality. This exhibition, mixing a group of new works with examples of important recent pieces from Southern California collections in an installation designed by the artist, demonstrated the visceral qualities Smith can elicit from a variety of traditional and unusual mediums-evoking solid bodies in ostensibly fragile silk tissue or creating transitory visual effects in solid bronze. It also revealed her expressive scope: rather than argue a specific political interpretation or conform to a single way of suggesting meaning, Smith's art explores the diverse possibilities inherent in the body as subject and object, self and other. Kiki Smith, who was born in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1954, grew up in New Jersey and has lived in New York City since 1976. In the late 1970s and early 1980s she was associated with the artist's collective Collaborative Projects, Inc. (Colab), and participated in the celebrated Times Square Show of 1980. During that period she began to focus on the constituent parts of the human anatomy, a subject that continues to figure in her art. The product of a mature, established artist, the work in this exhibition functions on multiple levels. The best way to see it is without preconceptions, to approach each object as you would a new acquaintance, discovering gradually its personality, its nuances, its humor. We recommend that the viewer not seek--or trust--any fixed meaning or singular association: this is art that grows with time and a sign of its effectiveness is the sense that some of it remains provocative or mysterious.  Elizabeth A. Brown, Curator

Super models make more money than a president of a university, a professor of astrophysics or a NASA scientist.

The world of fashion is temperamental. It changes with the weather. And this is why we have winter fashion, summer fashion, spring fashion, etc. You got my drill. And as a result, new models surface and catch the light. Others come and fade away. However, there is a breed of models which transcends time and space...and seasons. Those are the clever super models who redefine and reinvent themselves. While at the top of the world, the super models catch the glitters and bitterly fight the competition. They become selfish, shrewd and manipulative...
