BARBARA SINGER
Dear Max,
I just read again your beautiful article. It is beautifully written,
beautifully designed in each instance. I am very grateful for the way
you have seen what is in my thought and work. I am astonished. I am
happy that what I have been striving for has come across to you, and
because of you it is reaching others, many others. You are helping me
to believe in myself and go forward. I feel like the ugly duckling
who is becoming a swan! The way you chose and placed the pictures
backs up the text. This truly is a careful, inspired, original, and
honest work. And thanks for the astute
placing of my credits. The whole thing is of course a wonderful
thing for me, may open doors, may make it possible for me to realize
photographic and literary projects that so far have been unattainable.
I value particularly your paragraph that begins, "The photography of
Barbara Singer is a human chronicle ." And then you talk about what
art means and does to us. It is important that you wrote, "the
universe we cherish and fear..." And in the next paragraph, which I
also like a lot, you write, "Barbara Singer freezes and frees life.
And this delights and scares the hell out of me...." Thank you. This
helps to make your whole evaluation of
my work more credible. Incidentally that steel cross is what was left
of the World Trade Center after 9/11. It is marvelous that you say my
art becomes immortal. When my sister died I wrote a poem about
wanting to become immortal. The Stargazer lily next to the red ginger
flower illustrates this poem, and is called "LIly Immortal." So these
are some of my thoughts about your splendid article. I hope its
appearance does good things for you too. Please keep me posted about
future appearances online and in print. Just a notation is fine. All
the best! Barbara Singer, New York, New York. USA

Dear Editor: We were
delighted, my wife and I by La Femme Magazine. What a beautiful
magazine indeed. Rarely, nowadays, we see publications which bring
the public's awareness toward arts. You are to be commended for the
superb service you are doing to the arts communities. Your extensive
coverage of the best photographers of the year was a marvelous idea.
So enriching and captivating. However, I was saddened to not see the
work of our favorite photographer who is highly admired in Germany
and England. Probably you have heard of him. The name is
Memo Alci. We have attached one his best pictures, hoping you will
publish it in your magazine. Many thanks in anticipation. Please do
publish this photo. Inga and Eric Guttenberg, Berlin, Germany
JENNY
SINCLAIR'S TRIBUTE TO THE CARPENTERS.
Thank you ever so much for kindly agreeing to do a review for my
Carpenters Tribute CD "One More Time". I really do appreciate your
support very much indeed. Please find enclosed my CD and also some
text showing you from my perspective the recording of my Tribute CD
and also text about my own song "Sweet Child of Mine" which is also
included on the CD as a way of introducing myself as a
singer/songwriter to the fans. I have been most privileged to
receive a lot of kind support from people in the media, music
industry and ardent Carpenters fans and I have now added a new page
on my website at
http://www.carpenterstribute.com for "CD Review", in which I
would also like to include your contribution. Then that would be
great...I feel most honored that you would like to support me in
this way. My very best wishes for you. Jenny Sinclair,
Rochester, United Kingdom.
We will do, Jenny.
I have already listened to all your songs on the CD. I will be
writing a review, very shortly. Meanwhile, let me assure you that I
have tremendously enjoyed listening to your most delightful bouquet
of songs. You are a talented and truthful songwriter-singer. And
your future is bright. All the best, Jenny. Go get them tigress!

Alison England, Paris, France
SIGNED/AUTOGRAPHED PHOTO BY DIVA ALISON ENGLAND
Dear Mr. de
Lafayette, your interview with Diva Alison England was quite a piece
of journalism. You asked her very candid questions, and boom, voila,
you got fireworks from her. I learned a lot about this lady from
reading her answers. She is so honest and vivacious. Surely, she
knows how to live and deal with life. I also liked her spirit. She
approached life with enthusiasm, even though, she is going through
divorce. I worked as an assistant set designer for major
ballet/opera theaters in Europe. I watched closely how opera stars
act behind the curtains. Believe me they are not what usually people
think they are. They are moody and difficult to deal with them. Ms.
England appears to be genuine and sincere. Now, I would like to ask
for her signed autograph. Can you arrange this for me? My previous
experience tells me not to write directly to an opera star.
Bertrand Lemounier, Paris, France
Go ahead. Write to Ms.
England. She will not disappoint you. She is the sweetest diva in the
world!

Dear Maximillien; WOW! Thank you
from deep in my heart - what a beautiful layout, and kind words!! if
you're in town on October 11, I will be hosting a CD release party at
Fat Cat - 75 Christopher Street from 9pm-midnight - there will be
food, friends, and music - I'd love for you to be my guest, if
possible - let me know!! Peace! Sheryl Bailey.
It is a great honor to
be your guest! I hope you will have your guitar handy. It is a
privileged treat to listen to America's greatest female jazz composer
and guitarist.
