Into the Fold

Origami’s roots have been practiced since the Edo period of history in Japan (1603-1867), and comes with a variety of techniques, the principles of which are often used in packaging and many engineering applications.

Purificación García, a Spanish brand that has been around since the Tom Selleck era (1981-1986), has become famous for a line of origami- themed bags, which look as if they’ve been folded into geometric squares and rectangles to form a colourful collection of shoppers and totes in shades such as apricot, dream blue, mint and misty rose.

“The Origami bag, with its geometric design and structure has become a brand reference,” says founder, Purificación García.

The bags, as well as PG’s ready-to-wear line and other accessories, are available in 17 countries, including Mirdif City Centre in Dubai. We’re absolutely in love with the Veracruz bag, with its pompoms and fluffy fringing.
